Aproximació a la història de l'estudi entomològic-faunístic als Països Catalans i algunes reflexions sobre el present i el futur de la ciència dels hexàpodes Authors Juli Pujade i Villar Abstract A n historical review of the entomologists in the Catalan speaking territories is made, which underscores the particular evolution of entomology in each territory. The most important journals dealing with fauna are mentioned, as well as the taxonomic changes made recently regarding hexapods. Group by group, the faunistic studies and most important catalogues which have appeared historically until 2010 are cited, and the current knowledge of each of these groups is shown. All the works mentioned refer to printed publications. The final list, though extensive, is probably still short. In this study we have not found a suitable place to cite the information in digital format, which exists and is widely used. Finally, a criticism to the new fashions in entomology is made, with a warning about the difficult situation that could ensue if taxonomists were to disappear.
