L'Observatori meteorològic de Girona : història i documentació Authors Josep Batlló Ortiz Montserrat Hosta Abstract Several meteorological observatories have been operated at the city of Girona; but, from the scientific and social point of view, the most important one was that operated at the «Institut» (secondary school) at least from 1884 and closed down on 1973. The names of important professors on physical and natural sciences are related to it. At present, an important documentary heritage of this observatory is preserved at the Girona Historical Archive. Present work uses all available information to sketch a short history of the Girona Meteorological Observatory, its cultural context and to perform a preliminary evaluation of its pedagogical and scientific importance.
