Present challenges of the Historiography of Technology: the heritage of the classics and the new approaches Authors Antoni Roca Rosell Institut d'Estudis Catalans, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya DOI: 10.2436/20.2006.01.232 Abstract In this work, the author reviews some of the milestones in the historiography of technology, a relatively recent discipline, but which has acquired great prominence. The various historiographical experiences have opened many paths, but many of them are still untrodden. The social history of technology prevailed very early, but with different visions. Regarding our current challenges, we mention, among others, delving into the origins of the professionalization of technology, analyzing new cases of interrelation between science, technology and medicine, knowing and interpreting the relationship between technology and gender, studying the technological options and sustainability.
