Abstract

In finite group theory, many classical results involve Sylow subgroups. A natural direction is to generalize them using Hall subgroups. In this talk, we show how a result by Wielandt allows us to do so effectively. We present two applications: one related to Alperin’s fusion theorem, and another concerning the subnormalizer, a less familiar concept that has recently shown connections with character theory.
