Abstract

The purpose of this article is to assess whether Catalan lawmakers have been able to channel gender asymmetries with respect to reproduction. In particular, it focuses on filiation claims, the plea of exception of a mothers multiple sexual relations with other men (exceptio plurium concubentium), and the filiation of children conceived through assisted reproductive technologies. It is concluded that an effort has been made to tailor the new regulations to the gender issues posed by increasingly diverse family situations.
