Abstract

Biological Effects of High-Energy Electromagnetic Radiations.
One of the most important effects of high-energy electromagnetic radiations (ultraviolet, X and γ rays) on cells is direct or indirect damage to DNA. Therefore, such radiations have a clear mutagenic effect. Consequently, this favours tumour development in pluricellular organisms and, when mutations arise in the germinal cells, can lead to diverse genetic disorders
