Abstract

The texts of the twelve letters copied in his notebook by the monk and abbot Joan offer monastic and liturgical interesting data. The mention of the liturgical feast of the Resurrection in the first one allows the dating of the whole series between 1020 and 1023 consecutively, excepting the two mentioning abbot Abbo of Fleury, added later when Joan resided in that monastery. The reference to some «capse» in a letter send by abbot Oliba to the monks of Ripoll leads to the deduction that they were little chests with relics of St Benedict and St Scholastica, sent in 1023 by abbot Gauzlin.
