Els Missi Dominici, heralds de la segona parusia, i el programa pictòric de Sant Climent de Taüll

Abstract

The author explores a new subject of the mural paintings of the church of Sant Climent de Taüll, that of the missi Dominici or heralds of the Lord, which proclaim the second venue of Christ at the end of time. Until now it has never been identified, because of the two figures, at both sides of the apse front, only one, that of the museum, was known. The other figure remains in situ and has been discovered thanks to the restoration works by the Generalitat de Catalunya in the last years (2001-2013). This finding justifies a new examination and re-reading of the entire ensemble.
