Romanisation in the cathedrals of Majorca, Valencia and Cartagena. The liturgical models of the diocesan breviaries Authors Juan Pablo Rubio Sadia DOI: 10.2436/20.1002.01.109 Keywords: Roman rite, divine office, breviary, responsory, Majorca, Valencia, Cartagena. Abstract The introduction of the Lex Romana in the Iberian dioceses, which were reinstated in the 13th century, has received little attention from scholars. This paper seeks to add to the knowledge of this process by clarifying the lines of liturgical influence in three churches in the Mediterranean area recovered by the Christians between 1229 and 1243: Majorca, Valencia and Cartagena. On the one hand, a comparative analysis is made of the responsorial de tempore in the respective diocesan breviaries in order to establish the connections with the traditions codified in other peninsular churches. On the other hand, the political-ecclesiastical factors that converge in the restoration process are assessed with a view to explaining the choices made in each scenario.
