Abstract

This article presents a set of considerations on the liturgical functionality of the Majorcan baptistery of Son Peretó (Manacor). This baptistery has been the subject of many controversial interpretations arising from excavations carried out by outdated methods. Fortunately, now the scientific results of the excavations carried out between 2005 and 2016 have been published, allowing us to delve a little deeper into the reconstruction of the baptismal liturgy rites in the baptistery’s two phases: the first between the 5th century and the early 6th century, in the Vandal period, and the other now datable to the midst of the 6th century, under the Byzantine domination.
