Santa Maria de l'Estany i la consolidació d'una canònica agustiniana a principis del segle XIII Authors Josep M. Masnou i Pratdesaba Abstract This paper follows the steps in the formation of the canonical church of Santa Maria de l'Estany, from the canonical reform in the late 12th century to the early 13th century. In 1216 Pope Innocent III granted prior Ramonde Gurb and his community the independent management of their patrimony with respect to Vic Cathedral. At that point in time we can document the endowment of new benefices, which led to the restructuring of the apse of the church of Santa Maria and the building of an elevated choir, the cloister and the chapel of Santa Cecília with its parish functions.
