Abstract

The Bibliothèque Nationale de France conserves various Catalan medieval liturgical manuscripts which are well known among researchers. Now we can add some breviary fragments, from the first half of the 12th century, curiously bound in the miscellany codex Supplément turc 983, which contains various Arabic treatises. The two folios in question, which were hitherto unknown, must have been used as covers for some of the signatures that were subsequently bound in the factitious volume. This paper presents the liturgical content of the two folios and a study of the musical notation which it contains, belonging to the last phase of Catalan musical notation in campo aperto.
