Abstract

The Hispanic festive prayer book of the monastery of Santo Domingo de Silos is a volume composed in the last quarter of the 9th century in an Aragonese setting, conserved today in the British Library in London. In general, it remains little known to scholars of Hispanic liturgies. The purpose of this study, which includes the publication of all the beginnings of its pieces, is to make it better known with the aim of showing how the festive liber orationum evolved over the course of the centuries, and of determining what the Hispanic liturgy used in the Tarraconensis province was like before the Romano-Frankish rites used in the old Carolingian Empire were introduced there.
