Els Treballs de fixació de les dunes empordaneses Authors Hèctor Pipió Gelabert Abstract La formació de les dunes a les comarques gironines de l'Alt i el Baix Empordà, amb efectes negatius sobre la població local i els seus béns, obeeix a una disposició concreta de la línia de costa de la badia de Roses, el paper dels rius que hi desguassaven i l'efecte dels vents del nord. Al final del segle XIX es realitzà una campanya de sensibilització sobre aquest problema, que va concloure amb la redacció del projecte de fixació i repoblació de les dunes i la seva execució, que es desenvolupà al final del segle XIX i al llarg del primer decenni del segle XX. El projecte, a més de ser el primer d'aquest tipus a l'Estat espanyol, incorporà solucions originals per resoldre el problema i es realitzà, en gran part, gràcies a la implicació i l'entusiasme dels primers enginyers de forests, que integraven la incipient administració forestal d'aquella època.
