Laboratoris de fitopatologia: cent anys d'història Authors Carmina Montón i Romans Abstract Es coneix des de l'antiguitat que les plantes tenen malalties, però no és fins que s'inventen eines d'observació, com la lupa i el microscopi, que realment es comencen a descobrir i estudiar els organismes causants d'aquestes malalties. L'increment del comerç entre diferents continents obliga els països a tenir cura de l'estat sanitari del material vegetal que es transporta per tal d'evitar la introducció de noves plagues i malalties. És llavors que es comencen a crear els primers laboratoris de fitopatologia, generalment situats al mateix punt d'entrada, port, frontera... A Europa, és amb l'entrada en vigor del passaport fitosanitari el 1993 que a Espanya es posen a punt laboratoris de fitopatologia encarregats dels programes de detecció i eradicació de patògens de quarantena amb tècniques que ja es fan servir en medicina i patologia animal, però encara poc desenvolupades en patologia vegetal.
