Abstract

A water and fertilisers management model is being developed at farm level that allows the control of strawberry production in permeable sandy soils. The main objective is to reduce the potential chemical degradation of the soil due to the general intensive use of fertilisers without decreasing productivity. The results show that the coupled use of nutritive solutions at low concentrations and an irrigation criteria based on evaporation tank measurements allow a more efficient water and fertiliser use while production levels and quality.
