Liberalisme oligàrquic, caciquisme i democratització política entre 1876 i 1923. El cas català

Resumen

Aquest article pretén contribuir a explicar com funcionava el caciquisme a la Catalunya de la Restauració borbònica i com evolucionà en el context del sorgiment de la política i la societat de masses durant les primeres dècades del segle xx des d’una perspectiva comparada espanyola i europea. En concret, analitza la formació d’alguns cacicats territorials de poder en els districtes catalans, amb la finalitat d’aprofundir en el desenvolupament i l’evolució de les relacions caciquistes. A més, es posa en relleu el precoç procés de destrucció del torn dinàstic a Catalunya a partir de les campanyes de denúncia del caciquisme, i en quina mesura aquest procés comportà un autèntic avenç democràtic dins el llarg trànsit del liberalisme polític a la democràcia a l’Europa del tombant dels segles xix i xx.
