Jacint Verdaguer, poeta nacional de Catalunya Authors Ramon Pinyol i Torrents Abstract L'extensa i rica obra de Jacint Verdaguer l'ha convertit en l'escriptor més destacat del Romanticisme, fins de tot el segle xix, a Catalunya, i, sens dubte, en un dels clàssics catalans de tots els temps. A la qualitat i a la perennitat de la producció verdagueriana, s'hi ha d'afegir la importància històrica que ha tingut. En efecte, Verdaguer va suposar la consolidació de la Renaixença en el camp de la llengua literària i va servir de base per a la literatura posterior. A més, el seu prestigi d'escriptor va comportar un cert reconeixement internacional de la literatura catalana renaixent. L'interès per Verdaguer, sovint acompanyat per la polèmica motivada per les circumstàncies biogràfiques, ha arribat ben viu fins avui. El fet cert és que aquest interès ha creat el verdaguerisme i l'ha convertit en objecte d'estudi privilegiat en el món de la filologia catalana dels darrers trenta anys, amb tesis, edicions crítiques i assaigs sobre ell, a més d'una revista acadèmica especialitzada (Anuari Verdaguer) i una societat científica (Societat Verdaguer) que se n'ocupen.
