La dominació catalana a Grècia en el segle xiv: història, arqueologia, record i mite Authors Eduard Ayensa i Prat Reial Acadèmia de Bones Lletres de Barcelona Abstract En aquest article presentem una de les pàgines més mitificades de la història de Catalunya, la de la col·laboració, primer, i l’enfrontament, després, de la Companyia Catalana, comandada per l’intrèpid Roger de Flor, amb l’emperador bizantí Andrònic II Paleòleg i el seu fill i corregent Miquel IX, i el seu establiment, l’any 1311, en el ducat d’Atenes, ampliat pocs anys després al de Neopàtria, on els catalans romangueren d’una manera estable més de setanta anys. Es presta també una atenció especial a les migrades restes arqueològiques que queden d’aquella fenomenal aventura a la Grècia continental (sobretot torres i castells), al record tan negatiu que ha deixaten el folklore grec i a la conversió de l’aventura almogàver en un mite nacional tant a Grècia com a Catalunya, tot i que des de posicionaments diametralment oposats.
