Ho il·lustren molt bé les cinc narracions més importants: la Història de Jacob Xalabín, que remet a l’Imperi otomà; Curial e Güelfa, que té com a escenaris Itàlia, França, l’Imperi germànic i el nord d’Àfrica; Tirant lo Blanc, de Joanot Martorell, que se centra en Anglaterra, el Mediterrani oriental i el nord d’Àfrica; l’Espill, de Jaume Roig, que fa viatjar el seu protagonista per Catalunya, França, Castella i Galícia, i la Vita Christi, de sor Isabel de Villena, que situa la vida de Jesús en un ambient cortesà.
