General information
Manuscripts should be submitted to the Editorial Office. Authors are requested to submit manuscripts, only in electronic form, by e-mail, using any of more popular word-processing packages. Large files should be compressed. Manuscripts should be e-mailed to: cathistorical@iec.cat
Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the journal’s accepted practice, form, and content; they should be checked carefully to exclude the need for corrections in proof. The author should mark where figures and tables are to be inserted. Authors vouches that the work has not been published elsewhere and that the manuscript has not been submitted to another journal.
Catalan Historical Review does not charge publication fees. However, processing fees may be requested if the manuscript needs substantial language-editing and copyediting. The amount requested will not depend on the length of the manuscripts but on the time devoted to their editing. In special cases, processing fees can be waived. In no case will the acceptance of manuscripts depend on the authors possibility to pay processing fees.
Format of manuscript
All contributions should not exceed 30 printed pages, including tables, maps and figures. Manuscripts should be typed, 1 ½ spaced (including references, tables, etc.) on standard A4 paper.
The first page of the manuscript should contain only the following:
1. Title of the paper containing keywords pertaining to the subject matter. No abbreviations should be used in the title.
2. Names (including forenames) of the author and name of the institute.
3. An abstract not exceeding 200 words, summarizing the manuscript's argument and major contribution.
4. Full name and postal address of the author to whom all correspondence is to be sent. Phone, fax, and e- mail details as well as e-mail code should e included to speed up communication.
5. A list of abbreviations or acronyms used in the paper, if they are not explained in the text.
6. Keywords (maximally 5), which will be used for compiling the subject index same way as notes to the text (see Notes and bibliography).
Notes and bibliography
Use footnotes. (Articles published in the Catalan Historical Review appear with endnotes). Place a footnote number on the title, author's name, epigraph, or any section heading.
The references and the notes on footer must follow the following models:
(a) Books: Eugene Genovese. Roll, Jordan, Roll: The World the Slaves Made. Vintage Books, New York 1976.
(b) Articles: Kenneth Ledford. “German Lawyers and the State in the Weimar Republic”. Law and History Review, 13 (1995), pp. 317-49.
If the pagination of a periodical is continuous throughout the year, it is not necessary to give the number or the season, only the volume and year.
Citation of articles that have appeared in electronical journals is allowed if access to them is unlimited and their URL or DOI is supplied.

Tables, maps and figures, including photographs
Tables, maps and figures must be numbered in the text consecutively with Arabic numerals and submitted separately from the text at the end of the paper. Tables may be edited to permit more compact typesetting. The publisher reserves the right to reduce or enlarge figures and tables.
Diagrams and photographs should also be submitted on separate pages at the end of the article (new page for each figure). Figures should be numbered consecutively with Arabic numbers in the order of their appearance. Photographs should be fine quality, large glossy prints suitable for reproduction. Figures should not be larger than the manuscript paper. Numbers and symbols inscribed must be large enough to be legible after reduction in size.
The publisher reserves the right to accept color illustrations.
Proofs
Proofs will be submitted to the author for the correction of printer's errors. It is essential that author return the corrected proofs as quickly as possible with minimum alterations. Proofreading is the responsibility of the author. Only typesetting errors should be corrected at this stage. The corrected page proofs must be returned by the date requested.
Biographical details
Each author should provide a short biography (maximum 300 words), and this should include details of affiliation, and research activities and how the research group became interested in the subject being reviewed.

Catalan Historical Review welcomes article submissions and does not charge a publication fee.
Authors are recommended to have the manuscript thoroughly checked and corrected before submission. The Editors will warmly appreciate co-operation of authors in preparing papers in a manner that will facilitate the work of editing and publication.
Submission of a manuscript to Catalan Historical Review implies: that the work described has not been published before, including publication on the World Wide Web (except in the form of an Abstract or as part of a published lecture, review, or thesis); that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere; that all coauthors have agreed to its publication. The corresponding author signs for and accepts responsibility for releasing this material and will act on behalf of any and all co-authors regarding the editorial review and publication processes.
If an article is accepted for publication in Catalan Historical Review, the authors (or other copyright holder) must transfer to the journal the copyright, which covers the right —not exclusive— to reproduce and distribute the article including reprints, translations, photographic reproductions microform, electronic form (offline, online) or any other reproductions of similar nature. Nevertheless, all articles in Catalan Historical Review will be available on the internet to any reader at no cost. The journal allows users to freely download, copy, print, distribute, search, and link to the full text of any article, provided the authorship and source of the published article is cited. The copyright owner’s consent does not include copying for new works, or resale.
In these cases, the specific written permission of Catalan Historical Review must first be obtained.
Authors are requested to create a link to the published article on the journal’s website. The link must be accompanied by the following text: ‘‘The original publication is available on LINK at http://revistes.iec.cat/chr/. Please use the appropriate URL for the article in LINK. Articles disseminated via LINK are indexed, abstracted, and referenced by many abstracting and information services, bibliographic networks, subscription agencies, library networks, and consortia.
