Resum

The early years of Francesc Dalmau i Faura, a 19th century pioneer introducer of key electric inventions in Spain, are partly unveiled, documenting his birth in Manresa, musical training, first marriage in Barcelona and beginnings here as an eye-glass maker. What looks as a sudden turn from music into optics is tentatively explained by his apparent relationship with the Maglias, a saga of opticians of Italian origin established in Barcelona in the 18th century, of which some information is also given.
