Environmental journalism has been a key instrument in changing society’s outlook from believing we are the chosen species with a right to subdue nature, to the awareness that nature must be respected. However, reactionary sectors of society are using environmental journalism to confuse
public opinion. Only by regarding this specialty as an important part of scientifi c journalism, and by selecting truly reliable sources, can we fi ght against the demagoguery that often seeps into the
media when it comes to the environment.
