After introducing the basic physics of disordered insulators and hopping conduction, I briefly review the experimental evidence of glassy dynamics in these systems and some of the theoretical work aimed at understanding its origin. Similarities and differences with structural glasses and with another glass of electronic origin, the spin glass, are pointed out.
