El Cant coral als segles XIX i XX Authors Xosé Aviñoa Pérez Abstract El cant coral és un dels factors identitaris de la cultura catalana d'ençà de la seva creació de part de Josep Anselm Clavé el 1850. La creació el 1891 de l'Orfeó Català generà un moviment associatiu fonamental en la vida cultural del país gràcies a la creació de la Germanor dels Orfeons de Catalunya (1917). La Guerra Civil espanyola frenà transitòriament aquesta enorme empenta, que recuperà l'alè en les primeres dècades del franquisme i esdevingué no només una activitat musical, sinó, i sobretot, una excusa per articular culturalment el país gràcies a la creació d'entitats federatives que fomentaren la trobada i les activitats. Personalitats de relleu foren, a més de Clavé, Lluís Millet, Joan Balcells, Antoni Pérez Moya, Enric Ribó, Oriol Martorell, Manuel Cabero, Pep Prats, Jordi Casas, Pep Vila o Pere Artís en el camp de l'estudi i la divulgació del moviment.
