Els amics del seu pare, el notari Salvador Dalí Cusí, li fan els primers encàrrecs, en què emergeixen símbols de l’Empordà, com les sardanes. És a Figueres on també sorgeix el Dalí revolucionari,íntim amic de Martí Vilanova i Jaume Miravitlles. I el paisatge de l’Empordà, amb el seu cel blau ras, és el motor de la seva obra creativa. Els referents catalans i empordanesos són presents al llarg de tota la seva trajectòria i esdevenen l’essència de la seva obra; avui, molts d’ells són universals gràcies al geni empordanès.
